I’ve heard a lot about the importance of mock drafts in fantasy football, and I understand they help with preparation. But is it really necessary to run through dozens of them? I feel like that might be overkill. What’s the true benefit of doing so many mock drafts, and how do they help when the actual draft day arrives?

Mock drafts are indeed invaluable. They let you experiment with different strategies, like drafting a wide receiver-heavy team or going for an early quarterback. By running multiple mocks, you can see how the draft unfolds from different positions and develop contingency plans. What happens if the top three running backs are gone by the time it’s your pick? What if your targeted wide receiver gets snatched up right before your turn? Mock drafts prepare you for these situations, and they also give you a sense of which players might be available in later rounds. Draft day can be unpredictable, so the more prepared you are, the better you’ll be able to adjust on the fly.
